* Wintel Server Engineer (UNIX experienced)
scoutpeople is seeking Windows Level 2 System Engineers to provide support to an environment comprising predominantly:
- Exchange messaging servers
- Web Hosting servers
- Active Directory servers
- EMC CX storage
- Veritas NetBackup
- SUN Blades
Key Activities / Essential Skills are:
1. Need to have good working knowledge of WINDOWS server hardware, operating systems and back-office products.
2. Two years working experience in Windows Server System administration (including basic administration,
security, networking, backup, monitoring, and virus scan activities) with acceptable knowledge of
TCP/IP protocol, Web Services (IIS), DNS & DHCP, Firewall and Network protocols.
3. Good working knowledge in Remote access tools and console (PCAnywhere or VNC or Terminal Server,
or Citrix or iLO/RSA) & any management console
4. Good knowledge in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
5. Good communication and customer service skills and the ability and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
6. Willingness to be on 24/7 standby and able to work after office hours if situation demands.
Essential Knowledge requirements are:

1. Good knowledge on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 & Windows 2003 including Active Directory
2. Good knowledge on WINS, DNS & DHCP administration, configuration, troubleshooting & implementation.
3. Good knowledge about backup/restores & the software available
4. Should have worked with OEM hardware (IBM/HP), & remote connectivity tools
5. Should have familiarization to patching tools such as Hfnetchkpro, WSUS etc
6. Knowledge on different antivirus products
7. Should be aware of SAN, RAID concepts and disk management tools
8. Good Communication & Written documentation skills 9. Process driven approach in day to day work and problem management.
10. Must be fluent in the English language with proficiency in written and verbal English communication skills
Desirable
1. Experience in supporting big environments 2. Good understanding and working experience in Windows Active Directory
3. Familiar with LAN&WAN environment on Hardware/Peripheral maintenance and troubleshooting skills will be added advantage
4. Knowledge of ticketing tools such Remedy or SCOM monitoring
5. Good Customer focus and able to work as a team with the peers. 6. Self-motivated and self-driven with minimal supervision.
7. Experience with SUN Blades
Experience Preferred:
Minimum 2 or 3 years actual Windows experience
